Capture the anticipation of one of your most life-changing events! Embrace pregnancy by documenting it through a maternity photo session. It can be a great way to bond and connect with the baby, as well as a fun way of celebrating new life. I recommend scheduling your maternity session shortly after finding out you’re pregnant, especially if your due date falls at the end of a busy season. The busy season for me is April-September.

Something I hear way too often is that mamas don’t want to have a maternity session because they feel like a whale by their third trimester. Would you believe me if I said I had a solution? Because I do! I have a client closet full of beautiful maternity gowns. Hannah said this dress made her feel so confident, and sexy, and beautiful, which is all the things a pregnant mama deserves to feel!

If you’re interested in seeing the gowns in my closet, check out my guide on Instagram that features all of them! You can also keep scrolling because I’ll be featuring my favorites here in this post. Mamas think scheduling a photo session can be stressful, but I try to take the stress out of it by dressing you.

Maternity photo sessions are totally personalized. If you have other children and want to include them in the photographs, this can also help your kids to get excited about the new sibling they will soon meet. Bringing your spouse is a totally romantic idea to help strengthen the bond between you, especially when he is included in many of the photographs. Feel free to bring any props, like a blanket you got for them or their coming home outfit if you have it already.

My favorite time to do a maternity session is shortly after you’ve entered your third trimester, between 28 and 36 weeks. By this point your belly is nice and round, but you’re not to the point where you feel like a total beached whale yet. Did I mention I have maternity gowns that are super flattering and will make you look your best when you’re feeling far from it!?

There are a few reasons you may want to schedule earlier in your pregnancy. If you’ve gone into labor early in the past, if you’re having multiples, high-risk pregnancies, or if you’re wanting to send out announcements. Promote that baby registry as much as you can! Really, it’s up to you when we have your maternity session.

Remember, you only have a couple of months to do the maternity photos before your body changes back to its pre-pregnancy self, so get your maternity session scheduled today!

Stay tuned for my next post on how to prepare for your maternity session.
